How is geomembrane manufactured?

The geomembrane is waterproof impermeable material.It is made of polyethylene resin and carbon black material. The geomembrane is widely used for water seepage control projects.

Geomembrane raw material

Our geomembrane raw material use the 100% virgin resin, no any used material. The quality control will test the raw material. The resin manufacturers provide the factory test report or the certifications of the mateiral.The manufacturer report should include these properties.

Density

This property is a measure of resin weight, and can show the crystallinity degree.It is related to the material chemical resistance, permeability, tensile strength, and rigidity.

Melt Index

This is property can show the moleculare weight and rheological property of the polymer,and it is related to the manufacturing processability.

All the property meet the requirment of the geomembrane, the raw material can be used for manufacturing.

Geomembrane manufacturing process

Our Geomembranes are manufactured by the blowing film process or calendering process. After the resin is received, the geomembrane production starts, and the production  is a continuous process. It is very important to produce a high quality liner with maintaining consistency in both the raw material and the process.  

The geomembrane polyethylene resin is pumped directly from the Automatic mixing machine.

Automatic mixing machine feeds resin into the extruder. The resin is heated to the melting point in the extruder barrel.The extruder temperature is heated by the outside heating elements, and the termperature is stable. 

At the end of the extruder, there is a final filter for impurities or contaminants, and then go up through the die. The resin extrudes from the circular die as a film tube (“bubble”), and the bubble is pulled vertically by a set of nip rollers located at the top of a cooling tower.The cooling ring part keep a consistent bubble diameter.  

At the top of the cooling tower, the bubble passes through a collapsing frame and is pulled through the nip rollers. The geomembrane bubble will be directed back toward the ground and continues cooling. Before being packeded by the winder, the geomembrane bubble is cut into required width.

The online quality monitor can stop the production if the material has any visual defect (holes, water spots, or scratches) or dimensional abnormalities (width, length, and thickness).
